Hello, my name is Steve
about
Disability-Focused Chef, Author, and Speaker
Hi, I’m Steve Norton—an author, speaker, coach, and passionate advocate for living well with a disability. My journey has been shaped by my experiences in the hospitality and event planning industry and my dedication to helping others thrive through food, health, and mindset transformation.
In 2012, I suffered a life-changing stroke that left me paralyzed on my left side. Today, I navigate life as a wheelchair user—but that hasn’t stopped me from living with purpose, passion, and power. What could have been the end of my story became the beginning of a new chapter. I chose to thrive, not just survive—redefining what it means to live well with a disability and showing others what’s possible, no matter their challenges.
As someone who also manages diabetes and other health conditions, I understand the unique obstacles people face when it comes to living a healthy, fulfilling life. That’s why I’ve dedicated myself to educating, empowering, and enhancing the lives of others—especially those navigating disability, chronic illness, or aging in place.
I produce accessible cooking videos and teach adaptive cooking classes that focus on nutritious, plant-forward meals that anyone can make—no stove or oven required. My approach is all about making cooking doable, fun, and confidence-building for people with mobility or dexterity challenges.
I’ve written about using food as therapy and how small, sustainable changes can transform your mindset, health, and life. My coaching is rooted in empathy, lived experience, and a deep commitment to helping others unlock their potential and thrive.
This summer, I’m proud to be releasing my debut book, Thrive: Your Life Is Not Over… NOW WHAT. In it, I share my personal journey, the life lessons I’ve learned through adversity, and practical strategies for embracing change and building a meaningful, empowered life.
When I’m not working with clients or audiences, you’ll find me experimenting in the kitchen, filming new accessible recipes, or connecting with my amazing community. I believe everyone deserves the chance to thrive—and I’m here to help you do just that.
